This leader’s jersey from the 1999 Cascade Cycling Classic Leader's Jersey is signed by Scott Moninger, the race winner and along with other members of the Mercury Cycling Team. The jersey was signed by the team members, amongst others: David Clinger, Thurlow Rogers and Floyd Landis.
Scott Moninger rode as a professional for 17 years (1989 – 2007) and holds 275 career victories. Moninger was a four-time winner of the Cascade Cycling Classic. In the 2001 Moninger not only won the overall race but took victories in both Stages 2 & 5. Moninger was the top-ranked professional rider in the U.S. twice, first with Coors Light in 1992 and again in 2005 with HealthNet-Maxxis. He rode on the Mercury Pro team in the 1999 – 2002 seasons.
Mercury sponsored the American cycling team from 1998 – 2002. During those years the team won 535 races and was the Velo News Team of the year. Team member Henk Vogels, from Australia, raced as a professional from 1995 to 2008 and was a part of the Mercury Team from 2000-2002.
The Cascade Cycling Classic, founded in 1980 and ran until 2019, was the longest-running elite road stage race in the US. The race, usually held in June, takes place over five stages in Central Oregon.
